The Campus Hungary Program

The Campus Hungary program aims to enhance international student mobility in higher education, both in terms of having more incoming foreign students to Hungary and also having more Hungarian students studying abroad. The program supports Hungarian students, academics and university staff with different kinds of scholarships for partial studies to study abroad and gain experience. The main goal of the program is to support and facilitate the internationalisation of Hungarian higher education by initiating and deepening cooperation with foreign higher education institutions and achieving knowledge exchange by means of student mobility.

The Campus Hungary program is executed with the financial support of the European Union in the framework of the Social Renewal Operational Program (TÁMOP) of Hungary. It is implemented by the consortium of the Balassi Insitute and the Tempus Public Foundation.

Who can apply for scholarships?

Students of all accredited Hungarian higher education institutions can apply for Campus Hungary scholarships if they have already finished two semesters, have an active student status, can fluently speak the language of the applied studies and have the approval of the host and sending institutions. Applicants must agree to report about the gained studies or professional experience upon their return. Applicants able to have their credits acknowledged by their sending institution will enjoy advantages during the selection process, as well as those who have a scientific students award, study in the field of engineering and science and whose applied activity results in a research or publication.

In the convergence regions academics and staff of higher education institutions can also apply for Campus Hungary scholarships if they are fluent in the language of the applied studies, have the approval of the host and sending institutions and after returning home report about the gained study or professional experience.

Convergence regions in Hungary: Northern Hungary, Northern Great Plain, Southern Great Plain, Central Transdanubia, Western Transdanubia, Southern Transdanubia.

Where and for what kind of activity can the applicants apply?

It is possible to apply worldwide to any higher education institution, even without any institutional cooperation agreement. It is useful to apply to an institution which already has a cooperation agreement with the sending institution but the applicants are also free to search for new opportunities. In the framework of the program any firm or institution abroad (e.g. accredited higher education institution, research institute, museum and archives) can accept applicants for placements if it is declared by the host institution and approved by the home institution.
